Lives and works in Paris
Plus de lumière (cover), Plexiglas, pulp wood, cables, PVC stands, 155 x 190 cm, 2007
Based on the original artwork Plus de lumière by Claude Lévêque, 1999
Guillaume Constantin plays with double meaning in the neon sentence by Claude Levêque : that of light intensity being reinforced, or on the contrary, turned off. He perceptibly reproduces the art work and develops the existence of the object, yet removing its very essence, i.e its light.
“My relation to quotation is flexible, it’s both a diversion, a more or less ironic way of reading the medium and at the same time a tribute to the original artwork.” (taken from an interview of Guillaume Constantin by Mathilde Villeneuve, 2009)
