Last Manoeuvre in the Dark, Looping video, 4’28’’, 2013
Based on the artwork Last Manoeuvres in the Dark by Fabien Giraud et Raphaël Siboni, 2008
In 2008, Fabien Giraud and Raphaël Siboni showed at Palais de Tokyo Last Manoeuvres in the Dark, a sound installation composed of a still army of Dark Vador masks.
Based on her memories of this exhibition, Agnes de Cayeux realized an animation video art piece showing several tens of barely moving identical beings, following her work in the line with her work on the avatar icon (Base 64 reproduction programme). The two pieces both convey the Uncanny to the audience. The soundtrack includes an extract from the THX movie which has inspired the original installation, as well as an excerpt from the soundtrack of the exhibition itself, found on the web.
